Additionally, she has internationalized
classrooms by connecting her global tourism course with European students regularly via videoconferencing technology and social media. The teaching goal for this international experience is for students to gain international experience right at home and to further develop their intercultural learning and competence. Several local community partners such as Indianapolis-Piran Sister City Committee, students and faculty of Allisonville Elementary School and Center for Inquiry Indiana have joined the virtual connections to contribute to class discussion with European students.
Her efforts on the global virtual connection with Europe has been fruitful. It has led to a new study abroad program for students of Indiana University to study in central Europe. There are several mutual faculty exchanges between IUPUI and University of Primorska in Slovenia as results of her continuous efforts on the global connections between Europe and the U.S.
Dr. Yao-Yi Fu has conducted research on intercultural learning and intercultural competence. She published and presented at local and international workshops and conferences to share her experience in global education.
